Savings Accounts

Saving now will help you achieve your dreams later - whether they are three months or thirty years down the road. At Palmetto Citizens, we provide in-depth knowledge on a variety of saving and investment options designed to help you reach those goals:

Share Savings - To become a new member, simply open a share account with as little as $25. This deposit maintains your credit union membership and provides you access to a variety of products and services. Additional savings accounts can be opened and require no minimum balance.

Term Certificates - These are available from 3 to 60 month terms. All require only a $500 minimum balance with higher balances yielding higher rates. For our current rates, click here.

Money Market Accounts - This is an ideal way to invest your money without tying it up for a set term. You'll earn a higher rate than most savings accounts and dividends are paid monthly. Open your account today with as little as $2000; higher balances yield higher rates.

IRAs - Secure a plan for your retirement and take advantage of the tax savings* with an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) from Palmetto Citizens:

  • Share IRA - Open a share IRA with as little as $25 and build your retirement to transfer to one of our higher yielding plans.
  • Money Market IRA - Earn money market rates on this IRA plan with a $2000 minimum investment.
  • Certificate IRA - Terms range from 12 to 60 months with a minimum investment of $50.

Youth Savings Accounts - Start your child off right with a savings account at your credit union. Our special accounts for younger members help to encourage healthy savings habits while having fun. For more information, visit our Youth and Teen section.

Christmas Club - Deposit funds directly into the account to make saving easy and convenient. There is no minimum balance and dividends are paid quarterly. Funds are sent to you in November, just in time for your holiday shopping.

Health Savings Accounts - A Health Savings Account (HSA) is a tax-advantaged* savings plan that lets you put in pre-taxed money to use for qualified medical expenses. There is no minimum balance to establish, no service charges are imposed and dividends are paid monthly. Checks and a debit card are issued for easy and convenient access.

You must have coverage under an HSA-qualified High Deductible Health Plan to open and contribute to an HSA. Contact your plan's provider to see if you qualify.

Education Savings Accounts - A Coverdell Education Savings Account allows you to save up to $2,000 per eligible child per year, and earnings grow tax-free if distributions are used for qualified education expenses (tuition, books, supplies, etc.) at most schools.
