Save to Win® Account

Save to Win® is a special savings account designed to help you build your savings while giving you chances to win special monthly and quarterly cash prize drawings – up to $5,000!

With this 12-month term share certificate, every time you save $25 in your Save to Win® account, you earn another chance to win (up to 10 chances every month). You are entered into exclusive monthly Palmetto Citizens cash prize drawings as well as monthly and quarterly nationwide drawings.

The goal of the Save to Win® account is to foster a regular habit of saving. The more you save, the more opportunity you have to win. For every $25 deposit, you earn one entry into the monthly and quarterly prize drawings. There is no minimum number of deposits required, but there is a maximum of 10 entries per month and 30 entries per quarter. There is no limit on the number of deposits you can make into the account.

In order to open a Save to Win® account, you must be at least 18 years old and be a legal resident of South Carolina or another prize-linked saving state (see www.savetowin.org for a list of participating states). The account requires a minimum $25 deposit to open and maintain the account. Business accounts and trust accounts and not eligible. A member is limited to one account per person.

Members receive one entry in the monthly drawings for every $25 increase in their month over month balance, up to a maximum of 10 entries per month ($250 total). Each monthly entry is also entered into the quarterly prize drawing, up to a maximum of 30 entries per quarter. There is no rounding up, so, for example, an increase in month over month balance of $49.83 would earn one entry, but $50 would earn two. In addition, if you make a $100 deposit and withdrawal $100 during the same month, you would receive zero entries if your month over month balance did not increase by at least $25.

Save to Win® offers account holders the opportunity to win monthly Palmetto Citizens cash prize drawings as well as monthly and quarterly nationwide drawings. Palmetto Citizens will give away three cash prizes each month: $50, $50 and $25. Nationwide prizes range from $25 to $5,000. For a complete list of the national prizes, visit www.savetowin.org.

No, there are no monthly service fees for this account.

Yes. The Save to Win® account needs to be kept open for 12 months. There are penalties for early withdrawal, including account closure. Accounts must be kept open through the drawing period in order for account holders to be eligible for prizes. For ex: the drawings are performed on the 14th day of each month for the previous month's transactions. In order to be eligible for the current drawing, your account must be open through the last day of the previous month.

Yes. Account holders are permitted to make one withdrawal during the 12-month term for a $25 fee and must leave at least $25 in the account to keep it open. If a second withdrawal occurs, the account will be closed.

A member is limited to winning one nationwide prize OR one credit union prize per month. An individual member can win multiple times and in consecutive months.

Prize winnings will be deposited into the member regular share account (S1). Palmetto Citizens will contact winning members by phone or mail.

Yes, each winner is responsible for reporting and paying applicable state and federal taxes for monthly and quarterly prizes.

Yes, accounts are set up to automatically renew after 12 months. Contact Palmetto Citizens if you do not wish for your account to renew. Members can withdrawal money from their Save to Win® account at maturity during their grace period without being assessed a penalty, as long as they leave at least $25 in the account to keep it open. Members also have the option to withdraw all of their money and close the account at this time without being assessed a penalty fee.

If a member withdraws more money than they deposit at maturity or anytime during the 12-month term, they will not earn entries for that drawing period. Entries are only earned when the month-over-month balance increases.

Actual odds of winning are based upon the number of eligible entries received. For each eligible entry the chance of winning monthly or quarterly prizes is equal to that of all other entries in the raffle.
