Palmetto Citizens Teacher of the Game

We're proud to recognize an educator in our community to be the Palmetto Citizens Teacher of the Game during each USC Football game in November!

Palmetto Citizens was founded by teachers almost 90 years ago, so local educators have a special place in our hearts. To celebrate teachers and all they do, we partnered with the University of South Carolina to recognize a "Palmetto Citizens Teacher of the Game" during the home Gamecock Football games in November.

One teacher was selected from all entries received (contest period has ended) for each game to win:

  1. $1,000 from Palmetto Citizens
  2. 4 tickets to that week's USC Football game
  3. Recognition on the scoreboard and loudspeaker during the game

We're excited about this opportunity to highlight a few of the awesome teachers here in our community.

Kurt is an 8th grade science teacher and is in his 10th year of teaching. He loves teaching because it affords him the chance to be young again, to watch students have "Ah-Ha" moments, and to influence them for the greater good.

Congratulations again to Kurt Muller, the Palmetto Citizens Teacher of the Game! Thank you for the difference you're making in the lives of your students!

The first Palmetto Citizens Teacher of the Game was Caroline Rushe of Springdale Elementary in Lexington School District 2!

Caroline is a 3rd Grade teacher and has been teaching for five years. She says, "seeing a student have that "AHA" moment after working so hard on something they didn't understand before" is her favorite thing about being a teacher.
